Its all about your outlook..HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL..

All of us are surrounded by people with myriad of emotions, countless expressions and limitless mannerisms..but on the whole, we can distinctively divide them into Euphoric, Elated and Happy or Depressed, Sad or Melancholic..

and this art of being happy/elated or Sad/melancholic does not specifically depend upon presence or absence of any person or object, but most of the times, it depends upon our outlook towards the situation..A person can be happy and another sad in the similar situations and with similar possessions and assets..

some examples i saw in near past about how a persons perspective and way of thinking can alter their state of mind from positive to negative and the other way around..

One of my friend was going on a holiday vacation with his family, somewhere in India..while whole of his family enjoyed the vacations, he was thinking all time about his colleague being on an international spot for his holidays..WHAT A WASTE OF VACATIONS!!!…Holidays are means of getting rid of your routines and enjoy your free time. you can be jealous of your colleague at your daily office routines!!!

one other person i know, got his son admitted to nursery class in a well known school with a good reputation..he liked almost everything about the school but for one, and he shifted his ward to another school at double the distance from their home, due to this..and what was that..He felt that his son was not speaking good English..even he was not sure whether this is the fault of the school or not!!…C’mmon…only a NURSERY KID..The same person had once slapped his son Because He was not willing to go to DANCE class..overall his son had not started mixing with other kids with ease…BUT HEY..SLAPPING, SCOLDING…A NURSERY KID!!….GIVE ME A BREAK..

Some persons have stopped frequenting to Facebook as they felt depressed after using Facebook..they did not feel at ease when t hey saw their friends update about a new car, a new house or a long vacations at exotic places..JEALOUSY AT ITS BEST!!..

these were only a few examples and it was just a tip of iceberg..i know that no body including me is spared by these kind of thoughts, some more and some less…but we can minimise our agony, our depressions and our sorrows if we care about the things which we can change…and that too with a reasonable efforts and practicality..and keep our-self positive about the life!!..

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO LOOK AT OTHERS…TO THINK OF OTHERS AS POSITIVE(GOOD) UNLESS PROVED OTHERWISE, AND, TO THINK OF OTHERS AS NEGATIVE (BAD, NOT GOOD) UNLESS PROVED OTHERWISE..AND THIS WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE….

How will i explain it to my daughter?.

Today i remember an old story about how a bad apple turned 10 other good apples bad..at that time, i was told this story by my teachers and parents to tell me that a bad company can transform you to have some bad habits..but now a days when i think to tell this story to my kid, i think hard what i will tell my daughter if she asks me that why 10 good apples could not turn that bad apple good?..why always a good person being turned bad and not vice versa..

Should i tell her that Negativity has always been stronger than positivity?..it takes immense power and self control to be positive all the times, but it takes just a thought to turn you negative after all that hard work..and its so strong that it sucks all positivity around you that you have been trying to contain for so many days.. now a days, with so many distractions all over the place, it has just got messier…

Jealousy is one of the strongest factor of this negativity..an update on the facebook by any of your connection can turn you jealous..” How on this earth can s/he be travelling to these places every other day?..Another car/house?..s/he has some other source of income i tell you…Has s/he  got no other work than to post his morphed photo on the fb daily?. oh, s/he has got so loving husband/wife!! i have never been gifted things like that etc etc.” and what not..(disclaimer: i have posted only the most benign of comments i have heard over the years)…i am not over reacting when i say that i have seen  very rich, successful people going frustrated and ultimately depressed over the success of another person, forgetting that  they have got enough to make others jealous..

i will elaborate on other negative aspects sometime later…now, i am busy thinking how to hide this story from my daughter.. (she is already here with her story book in her hands…God Save me!!! from her questions..)

Be Positive..have friends..

All these days in the new work place, some good and some not so, were not without some  much valuable experiences to learn from….and most important thing i realised once again was that its important to be in positive state of mind to feel happiness….it is always necessary to tell yourself always that you wanna be happy and you’ll have to try for it….sometime a seemingly small thing like a call from a friend or just some news in the newspaper can bring smiles too…but all that is magical really and i felt that magic these days…or say it happened earlier too but i recognised it now only…
well, those who haven’t got much, are crying for food and clothes…those who have got that are trying to be at the zenith of their careers and life..those who have reached there are starving for more luxuries and an edge above their competitors…and those who have got all materialistic things of words are looking out for some peace….so thing which we all yearn for ultimately, is peace…and surely we only can find ways to get this for ourselves..
and here i remember two nice lines..
सफर में सुकून चाहो तो थोड़ा सामान काम कर लो,और

 सुकून ज़िंदगी में चाहो तो अपने अरमान काम कर लो।..

i really found it amazing..a new way to look at INDIA..amazingly clear pictures..

Ron Mayhew's Blog

It is impossible to not be in awe of what is India. She is at once chaotic, unruly, exaggerated and constantly in motion.

The pace of life is frenetic and I believe all of India must be sleep deprived.

It is impossible, at least for me, to fully understand, much less describe her. And that’s the fascination.

I have heard that there are more billionaires minted in India each year than any other country in the world.

But that is not what attracts me. My India is rather tattered and frayed. And orange.

Especially the northern portion. Everything has a coating of orange from the polluted, smog filled air and blowing dust from the arid land.

Saffron, a color that symbolizes all aspects of Hinduism, is the color of sadhus and saints,

ascetics and sages. It is the color of the holy…

where is the education in schools?..

This time of the year, every year, the race begins, the race for the parents to various schools, their neighbours, internet and whatever sources available to search for the best schools and apply for NURSERY admissions for them..and more often than not, the school which emerges the best is the school which they considered best before the rush began..as everybody is on the same boat and asking others for directions…

but what is a best school nevertheless?..i am asking this question to myself for so long now as i am one RAT of this race to school…An answer from me would have been: the best school is the one which not only imparts fundamental knowledge but also makes my kid learn INCLUSIVENESS and SENSE of BELONGING..

but is this what schools are imparting now a days?..most of the school forms i filled wanted information about my education, my status in society, my salary and many other questions about my child upbringing and blah blah..for example, few question left me bemused and really confused that how these question will judge me? aren’t these questions to be answered ideally every time..

for example what could a father answer a question like :how would you contribute to growth of your child? i wanted to answer: really, i thought an admission at your school was good enough!!!

another Gem of the question: as parents, our aspirations for our child are…
i again stopped short of writing : i want my child to be the BEST GOON of my Society so that nobody dares to poke into my matter.

one more: what values do you want to inculcate in your child?..
i wanted to scream really..what values does any parent want in his/her child…is;nt the answer to this question known to you already, or will you impart only that value which i want and keep others for other kids.

and the best one..how would you handle if your child cannot cope-up with school work?? WHOA!! so there are great chances that they turn my child an IMBECILE..I am still thinking of the answer..what will i do?.

jokes apart, on a serious note, whatever i say, whatever i feel and whatever i want my child to imbibe from d school, the truth is this and my kid will be a part of this education system sooner…

and i end this with these lines from SADHGURU:..

“Right now, the whole education process is just about survival. Education should not be about survival. It should be about broadening your horizons. Because people have become so mad about their economic status, we have twisted education into a way of milking money from the world. This has to change. If one keeps his intelligence uncluttered, wherever you put him he will survive. We want to produce not just loving, wonderful adults, but very resilient adults. Even if you put him in hell, he should slowly convert it into heaven”

मेरी पीड़ा. …

If you know your rights, know your duties Too…….

I travelled by the metro for around two years before I shifted my workplace to Gurgaon and started using my own vehicle for movement. In these two years, I had seen many instances when a male offered a seat to females (even younger ones) just to show the courtesy (I’m talking of non-reserved seats) but has faced situations where the girls in their 20s asks for the seats from men, even  un- reserved.

Similar thing happened that day too. An old thin man, probably in his 70s took a seat reserved for ladies as no other seat was available. On next station, two girls, must be in their 20s boarded the train and started looking for the seats with ‘reserved for ladies’ sign. They found the man sitting there. One of those girls went ahead and asked the man to get up from the seat as it was reserved for THEM. The man got up without any protest and without any question. The boy sitting next to the man stood from the seat and offered it to the old man. Everybody took the note of the situation but nobody could Of Course say anything to those girls as it was their RIGHT.

WHAT SURPRISED EVERYONE WAS THAT THEY DE-BOARDED AFTER TWO STATIONS

I was also surprised like everyone and had the same question in my mind as anyone and everyone would have had at that situation…

WHO WAS MORE IN NEED OF THAT SEAT OUT OF THOSE TWO?

And this question still looms large and is relevant to most of the situations.

SHOULDN’T OUR RESERVATION POLICY (IN ANY FIELD, ON ANY BASIS) ALSO TAKE ‘NEED’ IN CONSIDERATION?

WHO IS IN NEED OF THE RESERVATION REALLY? A SPECIFIC CAST, RELIGION, GENDER?

Or

FINANCIAL, PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL DISABILITIES SHOULD SCORE OVER THESE THINGS WHEN RESERVATION POLICIES ARE MADE?
